Spanish Courses

Escuela  means school, and that is exactly what this beautiful building was built for – to educate the local children of the hamlet of La Crujía.  And so it continues, as we are now offering Spanish courses at the Escuela.

The classes are imparted by Toni Waterman, a fluent Spanish speaker with a degree in Spanish and Marketing with many years experience teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

We offer two types of courses here at the Escuela:

Non Residential Courses – Beginners Level

Very suitable for those who are already living in Spain or already have accommodation, this 1-week course aims to give you a grounding in Spanish which will give you the confidence to begin speaking and to make further learning much easier.

Wish you could talk to your Spanish neighbours? Time to learn some Spanish!

Wish you could talk to your Spanish neighbours? Time to learn some Spanish!

Courses run for 5 days, from Monday to Friday, 10.00 until 14.00, followed by a buffet lunch in the school hall or in the garden.  Those wishing to continue the social occasion are welcome to ‘swan’ down to the nearby Trapiche bar or El Cruce bar later for further drinks and chin-wags!  It’s also a great way to make new friends!

Ideal if you are retired and have recently moved out to Spain, a young person or family wishing to start a new life here and any other odd-bods!

Residential Courses

For those wishing to visit Spain specifically to learn, to get that grounding in Spanish, or improve their intermediate level of Spanish and get some practice in, this is the course for you.

We combine study and learning with activities in the local community, and provide comfortable accommodation here at the Escuela, or at a lovely guest house on the outskirts of a nearby village.  It is fun, interactive, and you will make friends too.

There are two courses to choose from:

Beginners Spanish Course – 1 week

In the Beginners course, the aim is to teach a small group (max. 8 students) a very good grounding in the Spanish language completely from scratch.  You will learn about how the language is made up, verbs and vocab, and lots of practical language.  At the end of the course, you will understand and speak simple Spanish – enough to get by on holiday, and enough to give you a head start in the language.

Intermediate Spanish Course – 1 week

In the Intermediate course, students (max. of 8) who have a grounding in Spanish (around 1 year + of learning) can immerse themselves in further improving their Spanish spoken and written language, to obtain confidence in speaking and writing Spanish.  There are plenty of practical activities to get you using your Spanish on the street!

estudiantesThis course will also suit Spanish A-Level students who  have done a lot of studying but would appreciate a whole load of talking to improve the fluency of their spoken Spanish.
